New Moon in Leo

There is a New Moon in Leo on 10th August 2010 at 03:07 Universal Time.

Leo is a sign of expression.  Ruled by the Sun, its purpose is to bring light onto dark situations - this is the sign of the actor, the child, the creative expresser.  With the Sun/Moon in combination in Leo we have the two archetypes of Male/Female in Union, a seed pointing to a two week period where what we express, find joy in and show to others is going to be important.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon reads "A chemist conducts an experiment for his students".  This is an alchemical symbol - the process of joining different compounds together, merging properties and energies to create new life, new form, new purpose.  This might be an appropriate time to try something a little different, to metaphorically pat our heads and roll our tummy's at the same time.  The Leo New Moon doesn't make any major aspects but does offer some minor ones - Semi-Squares to Venus in Libra, to Saturn in Libra and Sesqui-Squares to Jupiter in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn and finally a bi-quintile to the North Node.  The backdrop sky is awash with challenge and potential - throughout August the Cardinal Grand Cross is active - with Venus and Mars also conjunct in Libra (being Squared).

This New Moon then is telling us to try something a little different, shine the torch at a different angle.  It may feel awkward at first - in fact, this might be a time for sudden changes of heart, of direction - relationship dramas that are currently being played out might be particularly prone to this.  The bi-quintile of the New Moon to the North Node promises that creative solutions are the key to fulfilment of promise now, so take up they pestle and mortar and walk.  :-)

Experiments. Ha :).

I made cornbread French toast the day before the new moon. For the past few days, I've been busy experimenting in the kitchen and working/playing with dogs all day!

I resonate to this idea, Tony! Thanks for the insight. One of the "different" things I'm doing tonight is having a friend over so she, my husband, and I can watch the movie version of "Hair." Pretty Moon in Leo, huh? Most Leo Rising people I know have either long, flowing hair (the lion's mane) or something unusual about their hair. So, perhaps it's a time for a new "do," when you combine the experimental Sabian with the Lion's mane Moon! :)
