There is a New Moon in Gemini on 12th June 2010 at 11:14 Universal Time.
This New Moon occurs as we approach the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The mutable signs (Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo and Pisces) usher in the new seasons and Gemini does this with a fresh, youthful and open spirit - the fledgling birds fly and feel the warmth of the Sun upon their wings.
A Gemini New Moon is thus a 'connectors moon' - from one place to the next, from season to season and from my place of value to your place of value. The seed of journey in between, with its inherent twists and turns, highs and lows and course changes are the essence of this lunation.
The Sabian Symbol for this Sun/Moon tryst reads "Dancing couples crowd the barn in a harvest festival" which has an inflection of community spirit, get togethers and cultivation. The communication theme is strengthened by Mercury in Gemini and Mars in Virgo - during the next few weeks we will no doubt witness a flurry of action, messages and links and with Mercury/Mars Square at this New Moon, some possible irritation and conflict around this.
The Sabian Symbols of Mercury and Mars are "Holly and mistletoe bring xmas spirit home" and "Two guardian angels bringing protection". Again, we see positive symbols of connecting, togetherness, community and being helped upon our way - just as fledglings receive a nudge from their parents to set them on their way, we may receive this too. This is not a lunation for staying in, locking the doors or isolation. Meet, connect and engage is the motto here.
The Mercury/Mars Square is joined by and opposition to Chiron/Neptune forming a t-square. This has the feel of reconciliation around it - taking action to work with the differences of others and bridging the gaps - of course, this is sometimes easier said than done and the sense of nakedness that comes with that can give rise to isolation and fear of losing our ground. Again, the message is to keep the communication pathways lucid and active. There is also an undercurrent of dominant forces at work at this New Moon - either our own powerful emotions or the force of others. The Yod or Finger of Fate aspect here between Saturn, Venus and Neptune points to being realistic about our desires; laying the groundwork and accumulating at a steady even pace. Our emergence into new pathways is perhaps going to require adjustment, to the route there, and also to the emotional desires to reach the goal. The Mars/Pluto trine around this lunation shows a strong sense of will and power - either our own, or that of others, which we will have to mediate and accommodate.
The next two weeks, the actions we take and the adjustments we make will be critical and will reach a fruition point at the Full Moon on the 26th June. That, is no ordinary Full Moon, it is a Lunar Eclipse, and along with Uranus in Aries, which we've already seen, is the most significant Astrological point of 2010.
