Mars Opposite Neptune

"Mirror Mirror on the wall.  Who is the fairest of the them?"

Today Mars is at 28 degrees Leo and Neptune is at 28 degrees Aquarius - this opposition becomes exact tomorrow at 18:52 Universal Time.

It is perhaps needless to say that the energies of these two are not entirely compatible - Mars in Leo is bold, wants to take action, wants to express and 'go forth' with pride, ego and confidence - Neptune in Aquarius on the other hand would prefer to dissolve into friendships, into groups - they want to lose themselves in the collective.  Mars Opposite Neptune can surface as deception, an inability to take action and vacillation.  In fact, with two other opposites 'opposed' in the sky, namely Jupiter and Saturn, I would suggest that vacillation might be a theme at present - wanting to step, not sure about it, taking one side of the equation, then the other - the hallmark of oppositions - that of 'see-sawing' to make our footing sure.  Across fixed signs of Leo/Aquarius there is also a marked reluctance to give back or give ground - i.e. stubbornness.

Considering Mars is a very 'male' energy, and Mars in Leo particularly so, then the aspect signifies men who perhaps in some way are unsure of their virility - they may be elusive, inconsistent, 'wimpish' perhaps - it can also surface in another way - that of creativity.  This is the key to Mars/Neptune - it can show great artistry and creative imagination and at this time I would suggest this to be the best way to utilise this opposition - creative expression.  Rather than polarising ourselves into ego or deception/illusion use the power of Mars Opposite Neptune to express great feelings, warmth in friendship and camaraderie creatively, imaginatively.

The Sabian Symbols for their opposition show "A mermaid has climbed to the rocky shore of a bleak coast; she awaits the prince who will bring her immortality" and "A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis".  Both clearly point to relationships - the dichotomy of self/other, of being separate and joined, of transformation and expectancy.  I'll end this post with a poem I wrote called 'Oppositions'.  Enjoy!

Old lover, stepping path
with beau in hand, partaking
And new lover
Mirrors opposite
Forsaking

And I sit in the middle
And wonder of two faces
Ne'r seen
Now walking from me

This mirror, what element does it show
that I cannot see?
I turn it, and one deflects
The other defects

And still I sit in this middle
And see them walking from me

I join one, the others' further still
And look upon her
And myself, there in the middle
And I see me
Walking from me.

You're right on. I've experienced more vacillation over mundane decisions this week. Had to take extra time to really meditate on the better course. And the decisions I've made have to do directly with the aesthetic 'creativity' you mention. Thanks for an insightful post.

Thanks - and yes, I'm feeling it too and so are the people around me when I talk to them about their situations.
