Mars enters the sign of Virgo on 7th June at 06:11 Universal Time where he will stay until the end of July.
Mars has been in Leo since October 15th 2009, literally crawling through this sign for what has felt like an age. This change then, is a significant energy shift. Mars denotes how we direct our will, drive and force of creativity. Mars in Virgo is a very practical, detailed and pointed energy - the Mars/Mercury/Earth combination (which is what this position is) is a craftsperson - someone who communicates with detail and pragmatism - who dots the i's and crosses the t's. The Mars in Virgo person pours so much energy into 'the little things' and for this reason can be negative and picky when really what they are trying to achieve is perfection - expertise in technique and order, all delivered with drive and force.
With Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, Mars has a considerable part to play in the current cosmic setup. The ingress of those two 'enlighteners' will have Mars in Virgo overtones - health, work, practical routines and details, communications, who we serve and what we serve (the plough we furrow through life) and ultimately our relationship to ourselves - our 'macrobiotic' routines and habits.
His initial ingress into Virgo requires adjustments to the new state of play - the Quincunx to Jupiter and Uranus requires flexibility (something which Mars in the mutable sign of Virgo is capable of). It also serves as a reminder that we have to get used to this 'new seat' we are now sitting in - to proceed with caution and detail. His opposition to Chiron in Pisces may aggravate this feeling of being 'reigned in' and if it isn't understood and accepted then the Mercury Mars Square later in the week could boil over into confrontation (particularly in communications via letters, email, telephone, the internet etc).
