Poetry Hour: The Moon Occults Venus

Last evening the Moon and Venus were conjunct in Gemini.  The Moon travels the zodiac every 28 days so this happens every month.  However, this was different - the Moon came between the earth and Venus and hence 'occulted' Venus.  This is rather like an eclipse and doesn't happen too often.

With such feminine, emotional and love orientated planets together like this, relationships may not have been too far from our agendas this weekend perhaps causing us to think, rethink or simply indulge in the grace and beauty of love.  Personally, this was quite a special event for me and I had to write this post.  I saw them together in the sky as clear as this picture and it was a most astonishing sight to behold - the occultation was also my monthly lunar opposition - whereby the transiting Moon opposed by Natal Moon bringing 'full awareness' from emotional seeds that were sown 14 days previously.  Here is a poem I wrote about it - enjoy :-)

My heart and the sky, I witness
Gazing from my window
and now she is here

Since conjoined, 14 days past
The water flowed
to this moment, now bestowed

I see the crescent moon
Like a hammock, cradling my breast
And Venus sits atop, occulted

I hold my love in my hands, and heart
as the Moon is to Venus
Comforting, awakening
Opening pores of feeling and beauty

Such rare gifts
And I treasure the sweet women
in my bed, my breast
and the dark skies above
All come to me now, as resting places
I sit in my hammock
And smile.

Lovely! As you know, I'm going through a health crisis with my husband. It has brought out even stronger feelings of love and commitment. I had the strong urge to share my feelings with him--and did. My experience really seems to fit your description of this Venus/Moon event. Thanks for your wonderful poem, Tony, and giving me another moment to relive my experience!
