The Sun moves from fast paced, fiery and direct Aries on 20th April for a monthly sojourn in quieter, more consolidation oriented Taurus.
The zodiac swings from masculine to feminine, from yang to yin and Taurus is a double whammy - a feminine reflect sign ruled by a feminine planet - Venus. Not only that, but this really is the home of Venus - she basks here more than in any other. Taurean women may epitomise this ultra feminine touch - Taurean men on the other hand may show characteristics of the 'strong silent type'. A butch man on the surface - who in his spare time does flower arranging! Taurus is a natural, a nature lover, sweet and loving but is no pushover - prod, and you will notice their feet are firmly set indeed.
Let's look at some of the qualities and associations of Taurus. The image is an interesting one - The Bull. On the surface you'd think this was an odd metaphor for such a Venusian sign. There is, however more to them than that. Taurus is a fixed earth sign - dogmatic, stubborn, knowing what they want, stoical and powerful. The Bull throughout history has also been used as a symbol of earthly pleasure, wealth and fertility (the calf of gold in biblical texts). This is personified well in the mythological tale of Jupiter disguising himself as a Bull in order to capture and rape Europa, the daughter of the Phoenician king. The Taurean desire nature is one of sensual pleasure and accumulation.
Taurus is associated with self worth, patience and values - qualities from the earth sign Venus, the accumulation of 'self love' and fixity to know what it wants. Taurus is a builder, perhaps a hoarder. Finance is another association - the means of accruing our desire through trade. The trade brings in the opposite sign of Scorpio - the Taurus/Scorpio axis is desireful, giving and receiving, keeping and letting go - to have and to have not. Taurus conveys accumulation of possessions, Scorpio the loss of them - one ego, one ego-less.
All of these traits then are receiving full glow from the Sun - a lovers, builders, financiers and gardeners delight :-)
