Poetry Corner: Venus in Virgo/Neptune in Sagittarius

I'm very pleased to showcase a lovely poem by my good friend Neeti Ray who writes the excellent blog Astrology Expressed.

This poem describes Venus in Virgo in Square aspect to Neptune in Sagittarius.  When placed in Virgo, Venus elicits a purity of loving, the small details, the quirks, the ethic to work hard for the other.  Venus in Virgo is the image of the handmaiden - someone who crafts and weaves their love nature to perfection.  A faithful and loyal partner who will love 'the little things'.  Neptune in Sagittarius is a position of limitless exploration and faith - the joy of travel, of wonder, of enlightenment and of culture.  These two in a challenging Square aspect is so clearly and lovingly expressed here:

Love doesn’t always have to be a deep thing
Yeah, you can make it
You can make it a cheap thing.

Love doesn’t have to last
For years and eons and ages
It doesn’t have to be the kind of emotion sung by sages

It doesn’t have to be deep and dark and desperate

You can love someone for their turn of phrase
Of the music they make with their face
A curl of hair on their brow
Or a frown on their forehead when they’re lost in thought

Love is an explosion of someone’s being
In our hearts, in our minds, in our consciousnesses

But it doesn’t always have to be a deep thing
It can be a shallow, cheap thing

Cheap like air we breathe
The water we drink
And the thoughts we sometimes think.
