Mercury in Taurus

Mercury, winged messenger of the gods moves into the sign of Taurus on 2nd April at 14:05 Universal Time.

Mercury joins Venus in Taurus, the sign of the bull, of money, possessions, nature and practicality.  There is a somewhat quick slow quick slow nature to this position.  Mercury moves quickly and Taurus is steadfast.  In Taurus Mercury is like a bouncing ball in a locked room.  However, they are both inclined to detail - Mercury has a penchant for depth and Taurus is a lover of quality - on the surface this could prove a constructive union.  The trouble is, Taurus wants to focus and Mercury does not sit still for too long - in Mercury's eyes slowness of thought restricts his 'natural urge'.

There is then a requirement for a balancing act now - use of communication faculties to build upon quality, to transmit our values to others, to turn our mindset to what we possess - what offers us security and foundation - and yet, not allow ourselves to become rigid, inflexible and overly stoical.  A viewpoint too fixed of its 'right' whilst possessing great strength, always characterises a lacking in vitality and energy - like a stuffy room - the life breeze does not blow through it.  Mercury's arrival into Taurus brings the breeze into that stuffy room; a child reminding their grandparents of their own life force.
