The Scorpio Gaze

The Sun moves into Scorpio on October 23rd where it will reside until November 22nd.  Scorpio is the 8th sign of the zodiac and really is the first step in the horoscope circle into a loss of self - the first 6 signs embody self realization type qualities, the 7th Libra is the balancing pole and Scorpio takes us into 'other' realms.  It might be easier to describe it compared to its opposite number Taurus.  Taurus is a tangible sign, earthy, and its embodiment is self worth.  Scorpio on the other hand is about loss of ego - its energy is an inward one and it moves relationship from the 'light' nature of Libra to the nature of shared emotion.  This shared emotional energy is primal, it is instinctual.  Scorpio is often attributed to sexuality, but its real nature is not coarse - it is the alchemical reaction of 2 bodies embraced  in instinctual unity.  Transformation and magic takes place here and this is a place where the sign revels.  It is mysterious and powerful - in the sense that it has the natural ability to see inside and beyond with significant depth - look at the gaze of the cat in the picture - it is extremely powerful and self aware but in an ethereal sense - you get the feeling this cat can see more than you can - it is the Scorpio Gaze.

The sign therefore has enormous potential in healing and research of any kind and this next month we can use this energy.  Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto - the warrior and the transformer and travelling the depths can be a bumpy ride - ultimately one that reveals true experience.

As a Scorpio Sun and chart ruler, I appreciated your award for intensity, the instinctual and sexuality. The gaze section was awesome, I have experienced that most of my life along with people telling me the story of their lives with all the intimate details, even when I never asked. People often say "don't look at me like that" because the unconscious gaze can make them uncomfortable. It's a way of being rather than an intent. This also applies to Scorpio rising or strong Pluto. This intimacy requires strong spiritual governing to avoid misuse. I enjoyed the article.

Many thanks for your kind words Marilyn. I have Venus, Jupiter and Neptune in Scorpio with a very strongly aspected Pluto - I can so relate to your experience of the 'gaze' and the intimacy - you're right absolute power corrupts absolutely and needs to be handled with a great deal of care - not easy sometimes but there is infinitely more worth in taking the spiritual route than merely feeding ego drives.
