As Autumn is upon us we are now moving into Libra season - The Sun and Mercury are now in Libra and more significantly Saturn ingresses into this sign on October 29th. Libra is often remarked as the sit on the fence type, a dandy and a lover. However, there is more to this sign than meets the eye. Being the 7th sign of the zodiac it marks the changing point from the individual to the collective - and hence has reference to relationships - or rather 'others' - partnerships of all kinds - in love, in business and also our opposite numbers or enemies. The polarity (and kinship) with Aries can now be seen - Libra is the sign of the general and the strategist. Venus (it's ruling planet) has 2 depictions in mythology - the lovely Aphrodite with her flowing locks and beauty - and Athena, the warrior goddess, born complete with her armour but who was the helper of heroes and preferred diplomacy to fighting.
So..what is diplomacy? Wikipedia sums it up as "In an informal or social sense, diplomacy is the employment of tact to gain strategic advantage or to find mutually acceptable solutions to a common challenge, one set of tools being the phrasing of statements in a non-confrontational, or polite manner."
This sums up the energy of Libra very well - it's employment of tact (charm even), communication (it's an air sign) and the creativity (venus) required to bring warring factions together. We've seen this being employed to good effect in the news recently with Turkey and Armenia establishing diplomatic ties after a long history of discord - it's interesting that this has come about just as Mercury has entered Libra.
The sky is littered with challenges that require diplomacy, tact and strategic thought - let Libra be your guide :-)
